3 Tips you Need to Know About The PTE Speaking Section

These 3 tips for the PTE speaking section, describe image, repeat sentence and answer short questions will get you marks…

1. Describe Image

  • Think about what you want to say.  You only have 40 seconds to do PTE speaking describe image and if you mess it up, you can’t go back.  If you need to hit the high scores, you will need to include the main features of the graph and any anomalies. Do not waste time talking about the X axis and Y axis. This will score 1/5 for content. When you are doing PTE preparation, you can use out our 4 Sentence Model

2. Repeat Sentence for PTE Speaking

  • If you say nothing, you score nothing…If you say ‘anything’ you will get at least 1 point. Imagine you have six questions of repeat sentence. That could be six speaking marks, all gone. To get a high score in PTE, every point counts. If you have ever been to a PTE test, you will know that the room can get very noisy and shy people will lose marks. No one is listening to you. So, don’t be shy, and speak up.  And remember, practice makes progress.

3. Answer Short Questions

  • It’s funny because, even thou you are focused on talking , these questions are general knowledge questions.  The good news is these questions are often repeated and easy to remember

  1. Who specialises in the study of psychological effect of words? – Psychologist2. Who specialises in the study of earth and its composition? – Geologist
  2. What emergency service is usually called when someone is in trouble at sea? – Coastguard. The medical graduate serving as an apprentice in a hospital taking medical training is an? – Intern What crime has someone stealing items from a shop committed? – Shop Lifting
  3. Treatment of diseases by drugs whose effect on the body is the opposite of the disease. – Allopathic
