Course Description
The High School Access and Preparation Program (HSAP) is a full-time, 10 to 40 week program aimed at preparing international students aged 12 to 18 for successful integration into Australian secondary schools (Years 7–11). The course focuses on developing academic English, critical thinking, digital literacy, and intercultural communication skills. Through subject-integrated content, students build the confidence and competence needed to thrive in the Australian school system.
Entry Requirements
- Minimum age of 11 years at commencement
- Successful completion of at least Year 6 (or equivalent) in their home country
Course Structure Overview
The program includes 20 hours per week of in-class instruction, 5 hours of Moodle-supported blended learning, and 10 hours of independent study. Students are grouped according to their age and/or proficiency.

- Mathematics: Numbers, Algebra, Geometry, Measurement, Data Handling
- Computer Studies: Digital and artificial intelligence literacy, presentations, word processing, spreadsheets

Assessment Overview
- Formative: Weekly class tasks, homework, oral activities, peer feedback
- Summative: Mid-term and final reports, projects, essays, presentations, digital tasks
- Evaluation covers English proficiency, subject knowledge, participation, and ICT use
Certification & Progression
Upon completion, students receive a Certificate of Completion or a Statement of Partial Completion. Graduates are equipped to transition into mainstream Australian secondary schools or further English programs. Individual learning plans and reports support continued progression.
Pathway Partners
The HSAP program is registered under ELICOS and recognised by the Australian Department of Education as fulfilling the English language requirements for high schools across Australia. Turner English facilitates applications to Government and Independent Schools, assisting agents and students in obtaining offer letters from a variety of public and private high schools.
